T-Mobile Lights Up Cell Towers with the Sun

Posted by Kallan Dahn Saturday, September 25, 2010

T-Mobile USA has decided to literally light up their cell tower in
Chalfont, Penn. The tower was removed from the city electric grid, and
is instead being powered by solar panels. The panels generate enough
electricity to power the tower, as well as occasionally feed some power
back to the electric grid. T-Mobile declined to answer how much power
was being pushed back to the electric grid. T-Mobile does however,
claim this is the first solar powered tower in the United States.
