Verizon Sweeps Consumer Reports Customer Satisfaction Survey

Posted by Kallan Dahn Tuesday, December 1, 2009

Verizon Wireless sweeps all 26 markets surveyed during a Consumer Reports survey.  At&t Mobility however, scores a lack-luster last place finish in 19 out of the 26 markets.  Walter Piecyk, research analyst from Pali Research noted
"Apple's iPhones are the top smart phones in our ratings--actually, among the best of all phones we tested, period--but their exclusive carrier, AT&T, was middling at best in satisfaction," Consumer Reports said. "If you're readying to buy Apple's phone, prepare for possible disappointment with its service and expect to love the phone anyway."
This has been showing that problems with At&t's network may not yet be over.  Users of the iPhone have previously complained about network in areas like New York and San Fransisco, this remained unchanged based on the results of the survey. At&t's network is obviously being ripped apart by the data demand being driven on their network almost exclusively by the iPhone.  At&t has started to upgrade their network to HSPA 7.2 technology.  This high-speed upgrade may significantly reduce the strain being placed on their network, and allow the company a little breathing room to fix things that have gone wrong.  This year At&t replaced Sprint Nextel at the bottom of the survey.  "We appreciate and value all customer feedback," the company said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal's AllThingsD blog. "We learn from it and it helps us serve our customers better."
The consumer reports survey is an annual survey that allows wireless users to rank their carrier on criteria such as customer service, network, and reliability.  The survey sample consisted of 50,000 consumer reports readers residing in 26 select cities.
