According to Senator John Rockefeller has proposed to that congress delay the transition from analog to digital TV three months. The West Virginian believes the delay is required to allow the goverment to fill the backlog of requests for DTV converter coupons. The coupon would allow the purchase of a converter box for $40 less than the standard price. Rockefeller also mentions that the goverment and the FCC need more time to prepare for the conversion. While a delay may be exactly what the goverment needs to catch up, AT&T and Verizon are certainly hopeing the delay is not granted. Between these two communications giants $16 Billion was spend for the right to use the spectrum freed by the DTV conversion.
