At&t offers online iPhone setup

Posted by Kallan Dahn Thursday, October 9, 2008

At&t wireless is offering customers a new self serve option to get their Apple account set up before they venture into the store.
At&t hopes this will cut down on the length of time that customers are forced to spend in their stores during the activation process. Customers will be able to set up new accounts, check eligibility to upgrade to an iPhone and even port phone numbers. I am a little sceptical about the porting process via a web interface in the hands of a customer. This is not to say that as customers they are incapable, but reps that do ports on a regular basis can still have things go wrong.
