The GSM Association has proposed the Green Manifesto. The document outlines how changes made in the wireless industry could significantly reduce emmisison by around 40%.  The GSMA figures that the industry wide cooperation this could be achieved by 2020.  The hope is that the changes will bring about carbon neutral growth within the industry.  Deligates will be sent to Copenhagen to attend the United Nations climate Change Conference to lobby for these changes to be put into place.  This fits in with the efforts from major handset manufactures such as Nokia and Motorola to reduce energy consumption with a reminder to unplug your charger from the wall when you are done charging.
