Samsung has reported gains in market share of 22.4% for this year. The long time incumbent Motorola has held the top position as the number one handset provider in the United States since 2004. Falling market share for Motorola in the third quarter has the handset manufacturer bowing down to the new king of handsets in the United States. Motorola's third quarter market share fell to 21.1%
