Apple Recalls iPhone 3G Wall Charger

Posted by Kallan Dahn Saturday, September 20, 2008

The compact wall charger that comes with the iPhone 3G has been recalled. Apple has released a warning asking users to stop using the affected charger immediately. Evidently, the prongs on the compact charger can snap off in the outlet and risk electrocuting the user, or possibly causing a fire. Apple recommends charging your phone via your computer until the adapter can be exchanged. The power adapter has already been redesigned to prevent this problem, and is available through Apple. Apple is also setting up an exchange program so that you will be able to bring in the affected charger and exchange it for the redesigned charger at no cost to you. The new chargers will not be available for an in person swap at retail stores until October 10th.
