Posted by Kallan Dahn Saturday, July 19, 2008

Verizon Wireless and Rural Cellular Corp are waiting as the August 1st meeting with the FCC. The FCC needs to examine the merger to make sure that no anti-trust laws are in violation as a result of the proposed $2.67 Billion merger between these two companies. The Department of Justice has indicated they will approve the merger with minimal spectrum divestitures in only 6 markets in Vermont, Washington, and New York. This merger will allow Verizon to expand their owned and operated foot print, as well as take on an additional 716,000 customer in 15 states.
