Chicago Transit Authority Chooses Verizon

Posted by Kallan Dahn Saturday, July 19, 2008

Verizon is now going to provide cellular phone service inside the subway tunnels in Chicago. Verizon and the Chicago Transit Authority have just struck a deal to allow Verizon to provide access, bumping US Cellular from its position. US Cellular a smaller regional phone carrier has approximately 6.7 Million subscribers, Verizon on the other hand one of the larger National carriers currently has 67 Million subscribers. The CTA workers can expect access to the network early August. Verizon has not yet set an ETA on access for the rest of its subscribers.
