Eris Android 2.1 Updates Begin to Flow

Verizon Wireless has begun their updates for Android 2.1 on the HTC Droid Eris.  The device is currently running Android 1.5.  The updates will be pushed via phone notification over the network.  Tomorrow 9,000 users will begin to see the update and the flood gates are expected to open from there.  Many sought after enhancements are supposed to be available following this software update.
Pinch to Zoom, Voice text entry, Google Map Voice Navigation, Multiple Gmail account access, Support for up to 19 Exchange policies, Location based weather, improved video playback, battery life, and support for Yahoo accounts, improved audio, and generally improved responsiveness to the device.
