Posted by Kallan Dahn Monday, February 2, 2009

Mobile gaming provider THQ has decided to streamline their company. Part of this streamline process has lead to they layoff of 100 employees, and a restructure of their wireless division. The company has further decided to concentrate their efforts on only high end smart phones as a gaming platform.

"As part of our goal of aligning our business to focus on our most competitive product categories, we have decided to streamline our THQ Wireless operations to focus only on games for high-end handheld devices. Given today’s market environment, we believe our focus on the high-end handheld market is critical to strengthening our market position and achieving profitability."
It should be noted that THQ's mobie gaming division is quite profitable. They saw a 2008 revenue increase of $6.2 Million.
