The mext proposed auction of wireless spectrum (AWS-3) is being met with resistance from T-Mobile. T-Mobile is currently proposing to suspend the auction an aditional 3 months. They want the 3 months used to further testing to make sure that the spectrum will not interfere with existing networks. The winner of the AWS-3 auction as the rules currently state, would require the winner to devote open access to a free broadband internet service. Political motivation may cause the current chairman to deny the request of T-Mobile and continue as planned. A final vote on this will not happen until at least next month.
