Car Home is an application that comes standard on Android based devices. The application has shortcuts to allow you to still use your device while in the vehicle, but make the usage of the device easier. The menu is simplified, and allows you to quickly access useful tools while on the road such as GPS navigation. The Car Home application has an updated version available in the App Market. The new version will allow you to customize the even further simplified menu, change the shortcuts on the screen, and even launch into Car Home when paired with a Bluetooth Headset. The wallpaper is also able to be customized this time around. Car Home has also released a development kit to allow developers to make their own applications compatible with Car Home. Car Home requires Android 2.2 to download, and is of course a free download.
Droid X owners are now given the choice to install Froyo (Android 2.2) on their device. In order to do this, their device must be rooted.
A very stern warning was passed down from Motorola recently. Motorola will not be held liable for an issues with a device once it has been rooted and/or installed with an unauthorized version of Android. Motorola also further warned that users who can not wait for the Authorized Froyo will not get it.
Thats right, unauthorized now = no authorized later. If you choose to forgo the warning Team Blackhat has leaked the newest ROM for the DROID X with Froyo, and has a full set of instructions available to help you through this process. As always proceed at your own risk.

In an official forum post at the Sprint Community, Sprint announced that they will be pushing the updates for Android 2.1 back to the second quarter. Sprint is disappointed, and expected to have problems with the updates worked out by now.
Verizon Wireless is pushing an over-the-air update to users of the Devour. The update will patch issues with the web browser, email application, on-board radio and make the Home and Menu keys more responsive.
Yesterday Apple released Firmware version 2.2 for the iPhone. The 2.2 upgrade will allow users access to new features in the iPhone. Google maps now includes street view, public transit, and walking directions. The update also fixes problems with HTML formatting in their email. Safari is now stabalized, and improvements to nessecities like voice quality, and decreased call failures. Podcasting is also now available for download with iTunes. This update was realeased free.
A new upgrade is available for the Samsung Instinct and promises to speed up the web browser, give you the ability to hide the controls for a nice full screen mode, and improve stability of the UI.
Are unlocked iPhones a thing of the past? They are if Steve Jobs and Apple have anything to say about it. The newest update for the iPhone 2.0.1 has been reaking havoc on some carrier unlocks. There have even been spiratic reports of "bricking" some unlocked phones. The new update gives revision to the 3G baseband. Unlocked phones have been experiencing the faliure to connect to iTunes. The failier has been followed by error coded "0xE8000001". For those of you that have an unlocked iPhone I would wait for an updated Pwnage Tool from Dev Team. They are working dilligently to have their work destroyed again by update 2.0.2. Updating will at least cause you to loose access to any "jailbroken" applications that you have installed. This issue is even occuring with some of the unlocked phones in very isolated incidents. Reports are comming in from Spain, belgium, finland, and the united states. Bottom line on this one folks, if you like your shiny new iPhone, don't unlock it. Apple giveth (for a fee) and Apple taketh away (for free).
