WebOS Security Flaw Found

A Security research firm Intrepidus will be releasing a report next week that claims Palm's newest operating system WebOS has a large security flaw built into its core.  The security flaw could allow the device to be controlled remotely.  The remote control capabilities could allow the phone to be dialed remotely, and even allow information to be gleaned from the device.  According to Intrepidus Aaron Higbee "Palm released this WebOS with prior knowledge that these web app vulnerabilities existed."

Michael Abbot the VP of Software and Services for WebOS at Palm has decided to resign.  Abbots last day with Palm will be April 23rd 2010.

Palm's WebOS to Keep You On Track

Additional information has been released this week from Elecation Partners investor Roger McNamee. According to McNamee WebOS will download all the maps that you will need for the entire day based on your calendar. Making use of GPS, Calendar, and Clock funtionality built into the phone, the new Palm software will allow your phone to know when you are late, or on time. In the event you are late, the phone can make a phone call, or even send an email on your behalf. This is a very interesting use of the GPS information, and I am certainly looking forward to this.
