Huawei To Boost Presence in US

The China based company Huawei will be looking to bolster their position in the United States market next year. The company currently has 900 employees in North America, and has recently won several key contracts this year including Cox 3G CDMA Network, and supplier for Clearwire's WiMAX network. Huawei even opened an LTE development laboratory in Texas. Huawei is currently eyeing business from Teir 1 US operators, and has recently taken over as the worlds second largest mobile equipment vendor. (according to market share)

"U.S is a very important market to Huawei. We are increasing staff there to support a rise in customer business." Said Robert Fox, Cheif Branding Officer Huawei wireless division, in an interview with Dow Jones Newswires.

LG Drops First US Based Netbook LG-X120

LG Electronics has announced the release of their first netbook to be released in the United States. The LG-X120 will support Smart-On technology. Smart-On will allow the interface in as little as 5 seconds. The X120 will include a built in HSPA 3G connection, 160Gb hard drive, and will tout inproved battery life 3.5 hours of charge for a 3 cell battery, and 7 hours for the 6 cell. The laptop will also include an onboard 1.3 MP webcam. Integrated SRS WOW HD, and TruSurround XT will bring stereo effect sound audio, to compliment the LED backlight of the netbooks display. The netbook will be a compact size and weigh only 1.2kg. The exterior of the netbook will resist fingerprints, and scratches. The netbook is available in classic white only, and is detailed with lime green, or pink.

New Competition for MiFi, Zyxel MWR222

Zyxel Communications has introduced a new product that will meet head to head with the MiFi produced my Novatel. The pocket-sized device will support routing of internet signal from any USB based aircard (from any carrier) to any 802.11n compliant device. Zyxel is hoping wireless operators will offer the wireless router as an alternative to the MiFi, but will also stand alone offering the MRW222 through electronics retailers to emphisise the consumers freedom of choice in choosing a wireless provider. The unit is small, battery powered, and 802.11n compliant, but is almost twice as heavy is the Mifi, and nearly twice as thick. The unit will soon be available for purchase via electronics retailers, and will sell for $300.00. Two other versions of the mobile router will be released that will sell for $200.00, and $100.00 respectively. Features on these alternative models will vary.

AT&T 850 mhz Live in Atalanta GA

540 cell sites received a long awaited upgrade from AT&T. The upgrade added 850 mhz support the existing network to increase the in-building coverage, and the capacity of the 3G network in several cities. Currently downtown Atlanta GA, and parts of Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb,Gwinnett, and Fayette counties have been upgrade. San Fransisco, and New York are next on AT&T's list for a similar service enhancement. AT&T has plans to upgrade several cities before the end of 2009.

Verizon Gets Samsunged World Style

Verizon wireless just added two new phones to their line up from Samsung. Both phones share a few common features including: CDMA, EVDO, quad band GSM/GPRS, Stereo Bluetooth, MicroSD Expandable memory, and a 2 MP camera onboard.

The Saga is a Windows Mobile 6.1 Smart Device containing a touch screen and simultaneously sporting a full QWERTY keyboard. The phone also includes an optical mouse, Wifi, and comes pre-loaded with Opera's mobile web browser. The price tag on the Saga will be $200 after contracts and rebates. The Saga can be purchased via all channels starting December 1st.

The Renown is a standard clamshell phone equipped with VCast, MP3 , and Visual voicemail. This handset will sell, after contracts and rebates, for $180. The Renown will also be available December 1st in all channels.

T-Mobile Gambles 3G in Sin City

T-Mobile has decided to update its network. A move that has been long over-due. Las Vegas is the first of 20 additional markets that will fall into the ranks of their third Generation Data Network. T-Mobiles nework will utilize 1700 mhz AWS. Compatible phones will be able to use this spectrum both for voice as well as UMTS high speed data. T-Mobile has let slip they will be announcing an HSDPA capable device they describe as a "new and compelling data-centric, all-in-one devices."Although they did not elaborate more on either devices or markets to be upgraded, T-Mobile subscribers have something to be happy about. This is a big step for the company to try an influence markets they they have been previously near invisible to the group of users wanting data centric services.
